To reduce rust, wash the iron pan with warm water and a soft sponge (avoid abrasive pads). Dry thoroughly over low heat, coat the inner surface with a thin layer of cooking oil, heat evenly for 2-3 mins, let cool naturally and wipe off excess oil—proper seasoning helps form a protective layer
